Valentine’s Day

*EDIT*

I’ve been asked who took these pictures for me…

I did.

And I have to say that it takes a lot of trial and error pictures with your arm held out to get a few good ones…

I have long arms! 🙂

*END EDIT*

Guten Tag!

I know it’s been quite a while since we last had a good chat… It might be a wee bit longer though… I dropped Emily off at the airport yesterday and have a ton of things to do around here to catch up my chores and get my house in order.  I have pictures and stories to share with you from the last few weeks.

~~~~~
On Valentine’s Day the doorbell rang.  I ran to get it wondering who it could be.
Ryan had sent me flowers!  Pink Gerber Daisies and roses in a classic German bouquet!
You’re probably thinking that it’s no big deal right?  A lot of women get flowers on Valentine’s Day.
Well you would be WRONG!  It’s a very big deal!
In almost 8 years of marriage these are the very first flowers my husband has ever had sent to me or even bought for me, for that matter.
(Don’t blame him though… this stems from being so broke for the first few years of our marriage… flowers were simply not a priority… and by the time we could afford things like this we’d lived long enough without them that they just didn’t matter.)
I can’t believe he’s been gone almost a month…  The time has gone quickly so far…
But I’ve had distractions to keep me busy…. and we have more than five and a half months to go.
I’ll be back soon with stories to tell and pictures to share…
Until then,
Auf Wiedersehen!
  1. Wow!  THAT is really special.  They are beautiful too!  I’m looking forward to hearing about you adventures……blogging about them will take another day and will bring you one day closer to seeing your dear hubby.
  2. Aww they are so pretty!  I hope you enjoy being so photogenic 😉  I told Andrew NOT to get me flowers this year for that exact reason – being broker than broke.  Maybe there’s virtue in it?  Hopefully, we’ll see.  Love you!
  3. I’m so glad you have so many distractions. They make the time go by so much faster. That’s why I always go to my mom’s while Dave is gone, then I’m not sitting around pining for him. And I LOVE your flowers. You guys are so cute and romantic. You have such a great marriage!!
  4. The flowers are beautiful.
     We have been married for almost 12 years, and I have only gotten flowers once. The same reason if you do not have a lot of money it just seems like such a waste to spend it on something that dies in a week.
  5. Awww, how sweet!  The flowers are beautiful!  I’m so glad you have so much to keep you busy.  I hope the next month goes just as quickly as this one.  I like the new header at the top.  My favorite pictures are the second and third ones.  It was good to hear from you!
  6. That bouquet is GORGEOUS! Gerber daisies are one of my very favorites (Easter lilies are the other.. lol), and pink is my VERY favorite!! We don’t really do flowers either.. we have cats and they eat them.. plus they just die so quickly!!
    So, I was FLOORED when I saw a comment from you, because I actually got on here to come leave you a comment! I was thinking about you at 6 this morning when Judah woke up the first time.. Thinking I hadn’t read anything from you in a while (which was expected), and then I saw something on TV about some soldiers, and that made me think of you again. So, to get online and see a comment from you was pretty cool.
    Thanks for the prayers for the surgery! I will just be so glad to feel better!! Have a great day!! *hugs*
  7. it must be so difficult being away from Ryan all this time. i can’t imagine. I”m thinking of you guys though and lift you in my prayers. What a beautiful gift from Ryan to tell you he loves you and sent something that he knew would be incredibly meaningful for you. I pray that your visits with your friends will be a blessing as you wait for your beloved’s arrival. thinking of you Courtney..you are loved.
  8. They are very pretty flowers and great pictures.  Who took them for you? It is good that you have had distractions.  I would think that living on base and having him gone would be harder to deal with.  Because if someone in ACUs comes into the store, I start missing my hubby more.
  9. Those flower are beautiful and I’m so impressed with Ryan for managing to send you flowers from all the way over there. What a man!  I pray everyday for both of you and I can’t wait to hear about Emily’s visit!
  10. That was soooooo thoughtful of him and especially because it was “unexpected” makes it ALL the more romantic. I thought I’d share a funny, quick story about flowers and me. My hubby used to be chornically late when we first dated and each time he was late he showed up with one-rose and a chocolate bar. It was gorgeous but by day#2 the flower ALWAYS died. I wondered how I could possibly be killing ’em so quickly and finally told him to stop buying them, they only died the next day anyway. And so he did. Years later, I find out he’d buy them at a gas station and I guess the fumes gave them a quick death. lol! So I didn’t have such a black thumb like I thought I had!!! Only one other time has my hubby bought me flowers since than….and because it doesn’t happen every year it makes it ALL the more special. This is a big deal for you and I’m so happy your hubby brought such a smile to your face!!!! *hugs*
  11. Your boquet is gorgeous, and yes it is a very big deal no matter what.  I can understand the being too broke to get each other things.  Flowers are a rarity in my house too.
