Only a moment…

I have but a moment to say hello.  Ryan is on his way home for lunch and Isaac is about done with his nap.  I had to steal Ryan’s computer to pop in as mine currently is suffering a serious illness and I haven’t the time to fix it.

I just wanted to let you know that I’ll be gone for a few weeks.  We are leaving tomorrow for Phoenix to celebrate Isaac’s first birthday (WHAT?) Ryan’s 31st birthday and for Ryan to say goodbye to the family before he leaves for Afghanistan.  I won’t have time to fix my computer before hand… so I’ll have my phone with which I can check facebook and email and we’ll have Ryan’s computer for work purposes but I’ll pretty much be out of touch for a while.

I’m caught up on everyone though I didn’t have time to comment and I’ll try to check in…

I hope to be back up and running soon and until then take care!

All my love,

Courtney

Summer Days… driftin’ away… No this is not a musical!

Hello!

I have a few minutes of nap time left so I wanted to write a quick update!  It’s SUMMER here in southern Texas… I think we might have skipped spring altogether…  We’ve been hitting high 80’s and 90’s since mid February and these past few weeks we’ve crossed the big 100 mark a few times.  IT IS HOT!

This weekend we hit the mid 90’s with humidity in the high 80 percentiles and we just had to introduce some good old fashioned summertime fun.

Isaac has a first word besides Mommy and Daddy and No… It’s… OUTSIDE!  He points at me then at the window or door and says “otside?”  Uh oh….  So this seemed like the perfect weekend for it.

Saturday we introduced Isaac to the sprinklers for the very first time.

He was so happy to just be outside…

Then he really got a look at the water…

And the fun began!

DSC_7162

I can’t get it Mommy!

DSC_7179

Give me that hose!

DSC_7191

And he got it… and soaked us all!  LOL

DSC_7196

This is the very best picture of all time!

Let me at it…

DSC_7239

Time to dry off… Hey Momma can I have the camera?

Tree!

Sweet baby cuddles…

Then he got his stick… I leave it out in the yard for him to play with every afternoon… and it’s all fun and games until daddy loses and eye.  *SNORT*

He points at things with the stick and says… “Dis?”  (This?)

Hanging out on daddy’s lap…

DSC_7333

Fishing with Daddy?  “Like dis daddy?”

DSC_7352

I dropped it!

DSC_7354

What’s that?

DSC_7356

He makes this face when he concentrates… which is the same face I’ve always made… that I still make!  What a strange thing to see your expressions on your son’s face!

DSC_7368

Beautiful boy…

DSC_7370

Hey Momma!

DSC_7378

Then on Sunday we went to Wal-mart and picked up a cheap kiddy pool.  If the sprinklers were a hit how would swimming be?

DSC_7389

The pool is almost ready… “He Isaac is this a hat?”

DSC_7398

And it’s a HIT!

DSC_7403

This kid loves to be in the water… We were in for over an hour and he cried when we took him inside…

DSC_7405

He loves to splash and jump… run around in his floaty… It was a blast… Other than the huge burns Ryan and I got!  OUCH!

DSC_7417

I’m gonna get you!  Duh Duh… Duh Duh… Duh na na! JAWS!

DSC_7413

In Isaac news… This is the part (please God) I will remember to delete before I send this on to friends and family in an email…  Isaac has completely weaned himself.  He nursed for the last time in a rare first thing in the morning session…  Then looked up at me, smiled, patted my cheek and said ‘Mommy’.  And he hasn’t nursed since.  He won’t tolerate it at all… I didn’t think I would be so emotional about it what with the major restrictions it’s placed on my diet ect over the past year (well I thought I would be emotional as in “PIZZA HUZZAH!) but I’m surprisingly very sad about it.  The one thing that’s come out of it is that he suddenly loves for me to cuddle him up and sing him to sleep.  That I could get used to.

I’ll leave you with my new favorite picture of all time…

Only a moment…

I only have a moment but I wanted to do a very quick update…

We were not able to put Isaac in the CDC last week as we planned.  We called and they said to just bring him by and we could do the paperwork and everything right there… when we did just that they said their rooms were full and we needed to make reservations…  So it was an epic fail on their part and a less emotional day than planned on ours.  We were going to call and get him in this week and then teeth happened so we put it off.

Yes that’s right I said teeth.  Isaac got his bottom front teeth at four months and then nothing happened…  About two weeks ago I noticed a little swelling in his top gums and thought maybe his top two were finally going to make an appearance… Fast forward to this weekend and suddenly all FOUR top teeth are coming in… FAST… as in, where there were merely swollen gums two weeks ago there are two broken through teeth and two HUGE swollen tooth buds today.  This has made for some miserable nights for all three of us and one tired mommy.  In fact when I’m done here I’m going to go grab a cup of coffee…

Never mind… why wait?  Okay to finish this with coffee in hand!

I have a doctor appointment tomorrow afternoon to have my thyroid checked.  Thank you ladies!  I don’t know why in the world that had not occurred to me.  I have a history of hypothyroidism pre surgery and it is common after having a baby and I have all the signs.  So a huge DUH for me.  I’m really hoping this is it and I can get back to feeling a bit more normal…

That’s about it… My days are consumed with Isaac, laundry, cooking and cleaning…  I almost never watch movies or adult TV anymore and things in the family are calm for the moment… We leave in three weeks for Phoenix but other than that there is little excitement. What is there to talk about?

I’ll try to visit if I have the time but for now I need to get some chores done while my kiddo sleeps!

All my love,

Courtney

Book Review for Book Sneeze: The Lightkeeper’s Ball by Colleen Coble

The Lightkeeper’s Ball by Colleen Coble

_225_350_Book_377_cover

In 1910 the top Four hundred families rule society in New York and Olivia is privileged to be a daughter of one of them.  Or is she?  When her sister mysteriously dies out west, Olive boards a train to Mercy Falls, California to find out what really happened to the beautiful Eleanor and to ascertain if her sister’s betrothed had anything to do with it.  Harrison is not what Olivia expects and after several attempts on her life she is forced to trust him.  Circumstances find them in an engagement that Olivia would like to make permanent… but does Harrison feel the same way.  Will they live to find out what life holds for them?

This book gripped me from the first page.  I have never read Colleen Coble and was reluctant to try this book out.  I have to be honest the cover drew me in…  It’s fabulous!  I was swept away by the characters, the intrigue, the very world depicted expertly in words.  I could not put it down.  My only disappointment was in the two female characters that become Olivia’s close friends.  They were obviously important but so completely underdeveloped… Imagine my delight when I reached the end of the book to discover that this book was the third in the series and the first two books were about these two women!  I bought them for my Kindle immediately and have managed to read through all three books in less than a week.  I highly recommend this series and this author!  In fact I’m currently reading a fourth book by her and may just go broke collecting her in the next few months.  I can not get enough… you will not be disappointed!
