Okay sorry the post was so brief I was just so tired, since it was 4:30am, but wanted to put up a call for prayer.  Here’s what is going on.  Andy, my BIL, started getting really sick last weekend.  Then his throat swelled almost shut so they took him to the hospital on Wednesday.  They told him he had a sever infection and eventually his tonsils would have to come out but they were hoping to nip the infection in the bud with strong antibiotics.  They sent him home he was back the next day.  We went with him last night.

They rushed him into surgery at 7:30 this morning and ended up taking out the tonsils and there was so much infection they even had to make a two inch incision in his neck.  He is still intubated and will be in the ICU for the next 24 to 36 hours.  After that we can go visit and they said he will have a long road to recovery because the damage was extensive and in an adult throat surgery is very painful.

Please just keep him in your prayers.  I’ll let you know if I find out more.

Just stumbling in the door from the hospital.

My Brother in law went in with his throat swollen shut.  He is having emergency surgery to remove his tonsils and some infection at 7:30am.

Please pray!

Chapter 16: Battle Ready

Last night I had another dream..   It is nothing more than a moment of feeling.  A piece that could have easily been in the dream I have posted before.   A simple reminder, to make sure I’m still paying attention.

I stand on the battlefield.  My back to the canyon walls behind me and my face turned toward the enemy lines.  It is early morning in the valley and the mist is just beginning to burn away with the sun.  It is going to be a clear and hot day.  I stand with my feet slightly apart my swords out.

Two swords carried at the ready.

The one I hold in my left hand is the sword of my ancestors, a generational gift.  The sword of a crusader.  Long, heavy, double edged, and powerful.  I hold this one straight out, tip to the enemy.

The one I hold in my right hand is the sword forged for me in my youth.  The sword of a warrior.  Thin, light, quick and deadly.  None had ever been made to match it.  This one was just for me and I know the feel of it in my hand as if I were born with it there.  I hold this one crossing my chest held out ready to slash.

As I watch the enemy lines preparing to charge I can feel the armor I wear.  The heavy breast plate pressing in on my chest.  The boots strapped to my feet weighing so heavily.  I can feel my long hair pulled back and the helmet I wear.  I can hear my own heartbeat in my ears and my breath echoing in the helmet.

The enemy charges.  They are coming fast.  I dig in my feet and breath two deep breaths….

 IN_______ OUT_____ IN_______ OUT_____

I cry out with those around me and rush forward……

Then I woke up.  Sweat on my forehead and out of breath.  I wake up feeling as though the enemy is all around me and my hands are still clenched around the hilts of the swords I carry.  If not in my hands in my heart.  I laid my head back down and tried to go back to sleep.  Life goes on but the battle ever rages in my life.  I have one advantage though that the enemy never considers.   I know I will win, the Captain is on my side!

Good afternoon Xangaland!

The new appliances are here and hooked up!!!!!

(in sing song voice)

There goes my only possession and now I’m in debt up to my eyeballs!!!

So as promised here are before and after pictures of my kitchen.  It was always red we just had to remove some above the fridge cabinets to get the new one to fit.  So I had to repaint!  I love my red kitchen!

So here you go this is the old double ovens. 1974 Original Hallmark Harvest Gold double ovens.

I got this picture so you could see the cabinets we took out and the place the fridge is supposed to go.

Here is our original 1974 Harvest Gold Fridgedair refrigerator.

This is the full before picture of my kitchen!  I think I might miss the harvest gold a little just because I designed the kitchen to compliment it.  But on the bigger and better right?

Here is the new glass top oven and over the stove microwave!  Very excited about these!  They just barely fit… whew!

This is our new refrigerator.  Which also barely fit in the space.  You already know we had to take out cabinets.

Here is the full view of the new kitchen.  All in all I think it looks pretty good.  Worth the $1900.00 to have all new dependable appliances.

So that’s it.  I’m off to clean house and make some dinner with my new kitchen.  Just itching to try it all out.

Song of the day?  There goes my Everything by Elvis…. you know because there is a part of me that will miss my 1974 original Harvest Gold…. sigh.  Oh well…… (and the part where they were mine all mine!)

Good afternoon Xangaland!

I have so much to do today.  In order to get the refrigerator we wanted we had to remove the upper cabinets in the kitchen.  I now have to paint behind them because the wall is a dingy Navaho white and my kitchen is red.  So that’s my project for the day.  Sound easy?  Well I have to triple coat everything because the red is so dark it requires a tinted primer.  So I’ll be at it all day.

The appliances will be delivered tomorrow sometime.  I’m still waiting for the call letting me know when in the day it will be.  I will be back tomorrow with pictures of them however.

The shopping trip with my MIL was a success yesterday.  She found everything she wanted and more.  She got a china cabinet, a vanity stool, and a wing back chair for her living room.  All for a little more than $300.00.  Next time maybe I’ll have some money along with me and I can pick up a thing or two as well.  LOL

These next two months are going to be very busy for Ryan and I.  We have to finish all the projects around the house.  We also have two weeks off at the end of August beginning of September to do the yard.  Then I have to refinish the furniture with my mom.  Then we should be done with everything that still needed to be done around here and we can move on to bigger and better things.  There will always be something else to paint or build…… I like it that way.

Hope all of you have a good day today.  I’ll be back tomorrow with pictures as long as the stuff get’s here of course.  Take care.

Song of the day?  Believe in What You Want by Jimmy Eat World.  I was just in the mood for a bit of an upbeat song and them I love so here you go.

Hey Xangaland!

Don’t have time to visit or even write a real message.  I am going shopping with my Mother in law today for furniture.  I will try to come back later and visit everyone and write something real.  I’ll just have to see how the day goes.  I also have to do some painting before the new stuff gets here so we shall see!  Hope everyone has a good day today!

Song of the day?  Take me out by Franz Ferdenand  Good song!

Well Xangaland, we did it.  $1904.44 later we have a brand new refrigerator, range/oven, and microwave.  They are all whirlpool too so good deal.  They will be delivered sometime on Wednesday and of course whether you care or not there will be pictures!!!!  Have a great weekend everyone and good luck Colynsmom on your new baby Monday morning!

Good morning Xangaland!

Do you want to know what happened to Ryan and I yesterday?  Well then keep reading.

Do you know what usually happens, at least to us, when we try to draw closer to God, and try to live life the way we know we should? We get attacked!  Completely and whole heartedly.  When we are not being attacked then both of us know we are not doing something right.  To be honest it has been awhile since either of us have felt like a threat.

Let me back up a bit.

I have told you that there is something Ryan and I have cried out to God for over the past few years and I have told you that God answered but the answer was not what I expected.  It’s time to tell you the prayer and the answer.

We have prayed for a long time now for a church, a home, a place that we could raise our kids to see and feel God as we did.  We have bounced from place to place almost our entire marriage and have never yet found a place we fit.  Finally about a month ago God sent an answer.  He sent it in the form of a thing that could be a church in time.  It is the wispy tendrils of a beginning.  It could be a home but it needs work, and people to work for it.  We feel God has put us here to do just that, work for it.  And so you see why I was so shaken.  We prayed for a church and he sent us to help build one.  We got what we asked for but not in the form we thought we would get.

So we have been pressing in and working hard.  We have spent money we couldn’t really afford to spend and acted on faith.  We have done what was asked of us, and some things that weren’t.  It’s hard work but worth it in so many ways.

And then yesterday happened.

Ryan called me at lunch to tell me that the fork seals on his bike blew: $180.00
While we’re at it he has to have new tires on his bike like now: $155.00
The brakes are going out so they need to be replaced as well: $55.00

The way the bike works we pretty much have to do all this together cause you have to take the bike all apart to do any of these.  So everything together.

So bike repairs?  $390.00 plus tax

Then he gets home and I go to put dinner in the oven while we talk about it.  About halfway through the hour long cooking time he realizes that the preheating light has been on the whole time.  We check, food’s still frozen.  Oven is out.  Then we go rummaging in the fridge to find something else to eat and notice it’s not as cold as it should be.  Check into it further and realize it’s still working but not for long…. so

New Oven: $599.00
New over oven microwave: $199.00
New refrigerator that will fit: $799.00
Delivery fee: $50.00
Warrantees for all three: $207.00
Installation fee for microwave: $29.00

So new kitchen appliances? $1883.00

Total amount of money we have to spend in the next week? $2273.00 plus tax

Total amount in the bank? $3.78

So is this a test or what?  We think we have it all figured out.  We went to Home Depot who turn out to have the best deals and it just so happened that we still have a $ 2,500.00 credit limit there from when we remodeled our house that never got closed.  And we have a bonus coming next month to fix the bike.  We are going to be fine.  But what a blow!

Guess the enemy got a good luck at the new Ryan and Courtney Laube and decided we’re dangerous.   Good.  We’ll put up a good fight, and in the end it’s only money.

Song of the day?  Smile by Nat King Cole

This post is for my aunt and friend Sulimb.

I remember when I was a little girl before you and Robert went to California I came over to your apartment.  I remember coloring in a Snow White coloring book with your colored pencils.  You told me that what I had done was so pretty I should be an artist.

You are the reason I took up drawing.

I remember when I was 9 or 10 I came to see you in California.  All the adults were talking and I wanted to too.  I quoted a poem.  You looked at me in shock and amazement and asked if I had made that up because if I had I should be a poet.  I told you I hadn’t.  But I can still remember the feeling of pride at having something to say that was worth saying and the feeling of disappointment when I had to admit it was someone else’s words.  I resolved to write something I could claim.

You are the reason   I write.

Thank you for these two unintentional gifts.

Go visit her Xangaland she’s awesome.  My other post for the day is still up below this one.  Take care

I found an excerpt from a book that so completely spoke to my heart I had to share it.

I have talked in the not so distant past about my faith and God sending me something that I did not quite expect.  Here is a story of a man that experienced this too.

“Once there was a man who dared God to speak.

Burn the bush like you did for Moses, God,
And I will follow.
Collapse the walls like you did for Joshua, God,
And I will fight.
Still the waves like you did on Galilee, God,
And I will listen.

And so the man sat by a bush, near a wall, close to the sea
and waited for God to speak.

And God heard the man, so God answered.

He sent fire, not for a bush, but for a church.
He brought down a wall, not of brick, but of sin.
He stilled a storm, not of a sea, but of a soul.

And God waited for the man to respond.
And he waited……
And he waited……..
And waited.

But because the man was looking at bushes, not hearts;
bricks and not lives, seas and not souls,
he decided that God had done nothing.

Finally he looked to God and asked, Have you lost your power?
And God looked at him and said, Have you lost your hearing?

I have to be honest that this story hits me right between the eyes.  Sometimes even a warrior needs to lay down her sword and kneel in silence.  For even someone full of zeal and power needs to know the direction they must take those gifts.

Isn’t it amazing what you can see God doing in your life if you will only sit still and listen to His voice?

I have felt so very introspective lately.  It’s not that I’m questioning or doubting my faith or my God.  I am simply relearning some of the things I have grow to accustom to having in my life.  As maudlin as I may sound I feel so incredibly alive and fired up.

Sorry everyone I know it’s not for everyone!  I didn’t intend to leave that up for so long… (embarrassed face) lol  Just got busy.  Ryan and I just got home from seeing War of the worlds.  Good but very,……… scary but not in a booger man kind of way….  Hmmmm I don’t know what to think quite yet.  I’m really tired so I’m going to bed but I’ll be back tomorrow with something real…  cross my fingers… umm I mean heart! LOL
